WeCan Co-organized the #NorthNormalRally #StandStillRally in Kano to End Violence Against Women and Girls

On the 25th of December, 2019, we joined forces with other youth-led organizations in Kano state and across other Northern Nigerian states and mobilized youths for the #NorthNormal #StandStillRally to advocate for the domestication of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act VAPP, during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence.

During the rally, we matched over 150 young people to the Kano State House of Assembly where the the copy of the VAPP Act for Kano state was presented to the Honourable Speaker, who pledges his support for the advocacy efforts and domestication of the VAPP Act as soon as possible.

As a youth-led organization dedicated to ensuri g the growth of young girls and women, WeCan Africa participated actively in organizing and mobilizing for the Kano State rally, with the of seeing end of violence against women and girls and other form of harmful gender norms and traditional practices that hampers on their growth and progress.
